Frequently asked questions.

What is a Retreat?

A retreat is an escape from daily life and responsibilities, a time for rest and rejuvenation. In this particular case, it is also an opportunity to learn and connect with others who are also eager to live their lives more joyously and freely.

How Should I Prepare for this Retreat?

Prepare by creating space for new information, new connections, and new experiences. The most important part of this retreat will be keeping an open mind and surrendering to the experience fully.

**It is important to note that this retreat is not intended to be mental health treatment and while it may be a therapeutic and healing experience, individuals joining this retreat should have a solid grasp over their mental and physical states**

What is the Weather Like?

The weather in the Dominican Republic varies throughout the day, with occasional showers that bring a refreshing break to the rather humid climate. Atop the hill where the retreat will be held, there is a constant breeze and shaded areas to shield from the sun, as it can get high into 80-90+ degrees Fahrenheit. The Villas are located 5 minutes from Playa Bonita, and several nearby beaches, providing a close escape to the waterfront.

How Much Money Should I Bring?

The retreat is all-inclusive as it pertains to lodging, meals, transportation, and all retreat activities. There will be additional opportunities to explore independently during your stay, at which point your spending will be at your discretion. You are also welcome to purchase your own additional groceries, snacks, or takeout meals outside of what is included in the retreat. The Dominican Republic has fairly affordable prices, but as a tourist destination will see some inflation for imported products or in luxury establishments.

Will There Be Transportation?

You will be picked up at one of the airports and delivered to the retreat at the beginning of your stay and transported to the airport at the completion of your stay (additional pick up and drop off points may be available if you plan to explore the Dominican Republic prior to or after the retreat).

Local transportation will be provided for the duration of your stay as well, including all excursions, beach trips, etc.

What Should I Pack?

Bathing suits. All the bathing suits. Due to the climate, it is recommended to wear loose, comfortable, cotton, or linen clothing. You will spend a lot of time in or near water so bringing at least two bathing suits is recommended as well. There are occasional nights that see lower 70s F, and evenings get windy and buggy, so bring at least a couple garments that cover your limbs to protect from mosquito bites. For some ideas and tips, check out our sample packing list.

Will There Be Reading?

If you’d like to read along with the workshops, there are several texts to dive into, that helped us build the structure and the content of the workshops. Outside of that, the retreat will take you on a guided, relaxing journey of workshops inspired by the texts and provide new perspectives, so there is no required reading.
